MIKE
DAVIDSON
As
the Director of YPDC of Suffolk, Mike has been involved with camping
for more than 30 years. Mike is retired from the NYC Board of Education,
where he had a long career as a teacher/administrator. As the Director,
Mike is not only involved in the day to day operations of the camp,
but he spends much if the off season planning and programming a
dynamic calendar of events for the upcoming camp season. When not
involved in camp, Mike travels and spends lots of time with his
twin granddaughters, who, of course, attend YOUNG PEOPLE’S
DAY CAMP OF SUFFOLK!!
STAN
KESLONSKY
Stan,
Assistant to the Director, has been with YPDC for 7 years. Stan
is responsible for staff development and programming. Also known
as “the big guy with the whistle”, Stan is retired from
the NYC Board of Education. Currently, he is an Adjunct Physical
Education Teacher and tennis coach at Suffolk County Community College.
Stan is the father of three, and has two beautiful grandchildren
who keep him on his toes! In the off season, Stan and Mike meet
to plan for the forthcoming camp season.
ELLEN
RUBENSTEIN
Ellen
is a certified Water Safety Instructor for YPDC of Suffolk. Ellen
supervises the Red Cross Instructional Swim Program, and, with her
lifeguards, coordinates instructional swim and supervises “free”
swim. Ellen has been with Young People’s since 1989. A mom
of two, Ellen is very involved with the Suffolk County Girl Scouts.
In addition, she is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education.
CRAIG
WASHINGTON
Craig is our
Athletic and Activities Director. He has been with YPDC for three
years, and brings a wealth of experience to this position. Formerly
a professional soccer player with the Long Island Rough Riders,
Craig is a Physical Education teacher and Varsity coach in the Babylon
School District. In addition, Craig is the owner/operator of JUMP
START PARTIES, a sports party business. Craig and his wife, Nancy,
also a teacher, reside in Suffolk County with their two children.
THERESA
DOWLING
Theresa is returning
for her third season with Young People's. Theresa is the Administrative
Assistant/Head Counselor, and will assist both Mike and Stan in
the day to day operations of the camp. Unquestionably, one of the
finest counselors to ever grace our program, Theresa is a two time
COUNSELOR OF THE YEAR award winner. Theresa will work closely with
the counselors, and assist with staff training and development.
Theresa is currently completing her Master's Degree in Education,
and teaching elementary school in Suffolk County.
