At Young People’s Day Camp in West Milford, NJ, we have been able to take advantage of the 5 acre lake for swimming, boating and fishing. The campers just love it. There is a game room located in one of the cabins that has air hockey tables, foosball, nok-hockey and board games as well as a TV for movies on those rainy days. The large open fields lend themselves to some great kickball tournaments, volleyball, tether ball and whiffle ball games as well as a great space for field days. The main lodge is a great place for the kids to assemble on rainy days to watch some great movies, work on arts and crafts, have a limbo contest and learn some new dances. We will also hold a talent show where some of the campers like to share their talents with everyone. There is even a basketball court. Overall this location has been met with great enthusiasm by campers and staff alike. What a way to spend the summer!
Trips
This past year YPDC North Jersey has gone on several exciting day trips. We have visited Turtleback Zoo, gone bowling, had a BBQ and swimming at Shepherd Lake and watched the semi-pro baseball team The New Jersey Jackals at Montclair State University. The campers and staff really enjoyed these outings.
