About Our Camp
Dear Friend,
Your child sits in the same classroom for ten months of the year. Let us make your child's summer a time of outdoor excitement, fascinating trips memorable activities, and lasting friendships.
I have three children so I fully understand a parent's desire to give a child the best and safest opportunities life has to offer. That's why we have developed the Young People's program of activities. To expose your child to all the places, experiences, and adventures that we, as parents, would like to offer our children, but simply don't have the time to do ourselves.
I know it's a crazy world out there. That's why our licensing from the NYC Department of Health is so important. That's also why all activities are supervised by licensed professionals, and assisted by college-age adults.
I'm committed to making this experience not only fun for your child, but also worry-free for you. So committed, in fact, that I'm at camp every single day of the summer to make sure that operations run to perfection, and that your child has a special day.
I'd love to share the personal touch with you! Take a moment and give me a ring, or even drop in the office. Bring your children, too.
Let me show you personally how we keep your children smiling.
Mr. DiGennaro
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why is Young People's the Camp for My Child?
- New excitement every day. Young People's is a non-traditional day camp. By this, we mean that your child will not stay at one camp-site every day. Our carefully planned, diversified program exposes your child to fun, adventure, competition, creativity, culture and wonderful learning experiences.
- What Will My Child Experience?
- A little bit of everything. The Bronx Zoo, New York Aquarium, Statue of Liberty, and Westbury Music Fair to name a few. Not to mention daily outings to bowling alleys and the movies (at our own private movie theater).
- Will My Child Engage in Any Traditional Camp Activities?
- Of course. Depending upon personal taste, your child can choose from various organized activities each morning, including sports, arts-and crafts, singing, dancing, hiking, karate, and participating in talent shows, contests and scavenger hunts.
- How About Swimming?
-
Definitely. Swimming consists of a three-pronged approach:
- Water safety and security
- Recreational swimming
- Optional swimming instruction
Of course, all swimming is done in a private pool.
- Are There Any Special Events?
- Absolutely. The Young People's experience wouldn't be complete without 2 trips to Adventureland amusement park, a clown, Karate exhibitions, several bar-b-ques, and new surprises every summer.
- Will My Child Get Lost in the crowd?
- Never. Camp groups are small and personal, typically with 10 campers to each adult. All activities are age-appropriate. Younger and older campers are scheduled separately for activities that require special supervision (swimming, bowling, etc.).
- Are Boys and Girls in the Same Groups?
- No. Camp groups are organized by age and gender (eight-year-old boys; twelve-year-old girls, etc.). This allows us to provide appropriate supervision for both boys and girls. Activities are coed; groups are separate.
- What Does the Cost Cover?
- EVERYTHING! All expenses are included... all tickets for movies, bowling, roller skating, and more; plus entrance fees for all trips and events. Not to mention t-shirts, tote bags, banners, trophies, prizes, insurance, and daily door-to-door transportation.
- How Do I Get My Child to Camp?
- No worries. For your peace-of mind and convenience, each day the camp bus, driven by a licensed bus driver and supervised by a responsible bus counselor will pick-up and drop-off your child in front of your home.
- How Do I Sign My Child Up for Young People's?
- Easy! Simply click the contact us button, or call us directly at 718-951-YPDC (9732).
