About Our Camp
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Young People's Day Camp has been providing a safe and memorable summer for the children of Staten Island since 1972. We are currently preparing for our 40th year and it promises to be our most exciting summer ever.
Licensed teachers, administrators and qualified college students make up the staff of Young People's Day Camp of Staten Island. Our camper to counselor ratio is 8 to 1. (Less for our nursery division.)
The daily schedules that Young People's offers are second to none. Field trips consist of: The New York Aquarium, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, The Staten Island Yankees, Bronx Zoo and the Museum of Natural History – To name a few. Back by popular demand for the season we will be adding Medieval Times, the Bronx Zoo and Museum of Natural History.
Free Transportation!
Transportation has, and will always be provided at no additional cost. Our pick-ups begin as early as 7:30 am and drop offs are completed by 4:30 pm. A more definitive schedule will be provided to our parents as we get closer to the camp season. We also offer early morning drop off, and a late afternoon pick up for those families that require such arrangements.
A Personalized Atheletic Instructional Program!
As a former Major League Baseball player, I feel the need to keep our youth as healthy and active as ever. Through proper nutrition and physical activity we can help build self esteem and a positive self image to today's youth. Therefore, we will be implementing a personalized athletic instructional program. This program will cover various sports for each child through the course of the summer camp season. In addition, we will be providing some "Nutritional Facts" in our weekly newsletter.
In closing, the most important thing that I can do as the Director is to maintain the integrity that Young People's Day Camps has built over the past 40 years. I will always make myself available for both you and your children throughout the year as well as the camp season. I invite you to visit us at our open house events, or to call me directly at 1-800-DAY CAMP.
Keith Glauber,
Director YPDC of SI
